About Mike

Mike has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Secondary Art Education Credential from San Francisco State University. He taught Pottery at Penn State University Craft Center and at Providence Center in Arnold, Maryland and now lives in Rockport,Texas where he produces work in his home studio.

Mike works primarily in making functional and decorative pottery. His past work has included creating sculptural designs, oil and watercolor paintings and various wood working pieces.

The pottery pieces are a mixture of a blended stoneware body that is fired to cone 6 in oxidation and Mike uses his own studio-mixed glazes for both artistic and functional work. The glazes are applied in a variety of layers which produces a distinctive depth to the surface in subtle variations of color and texture.

Many of his pieces are reflective of nature and derived from the beauty of the coastal bend area in which he lives. Mike’s work can be seen and offered for sale at various art and craft shows throughout the southwest.

  1. Saw your pottery at the Rockport Expo on Saturday, and bought a couple of pieces. Was wondering how to potentially purchase additional mugs and small bowls. is this a possibility? Thanks!
